I have now received, through atheson and Co a copy of the despatch from the Colonial Secretary of the 12th July and also some further correspondence with the Chamber of Commerce.
This will enable me to go fully into the whole question but as I am working all day on the land it is not easy to find the necessary time.
It is rather important to get this question of no allowance being made in valuations for probate, for wasting assets clearly settled.
1
know that
the question of amortisation was never
rom my own experience I considered and lots of all descriptions were simply valued at so much per foot according to the market value of the time.
It would be useful if you coula ascertain from Hongkong if they can give any instance of amortisationox being t taken into consideration in these probate valuations particularly in any recent estates including Peak property.
I shall be very surprised if they can roduce one.
Yours sincerely
